Cahokia Mural Statement

Logo Design

Logo Design: A modern statement mixed with an urban vibe for Indigenous-led initiatives. The shapes used are reminiscent of foundational geometric designs found in Indigenous textiles, metalwork, basketry, and sand paintings. Mathematical elements are also represented through the circle, triangle, squares used. When I took interest in art, the first assignment I was given was a study of these foundational shapes. We had the task of drawing, shading, and turning these 2D objects into 3D spaces. Art is the visual structure to understanding mathematics, sciences, and technology. We wanted this space to speak that when people saw the logo and its simplicity.

Painted Mural Pattern: My process is very organic and I follow the flow and direction based on the angles of the strokes. Using different widths of brush strokes I'm able to fill an entire space with a unique pattern, unlike anything you've seen! I've done this before in my own work and the result is elegant but the street, refined but raw.
